Gaussian Mixture Models for Medical Images Processing
Summary:
Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) enables flexible and statistical modelling of observed digital images
with multimodal characteristics, and has been widely used in many areas of digital image processing.
This project will investigate several recently proposed approaches to the estimation of GMM parameters,
with the aim of applying them to medical image segmentation. By finishing this project, students will
learn basic techniques in medical image processing and statistical decision making and be more experienced
in programming and problem solving.
