Travel Information - Getting to Sydney

By plane

If you travel to the conference by plane, which seems to be the default option, then your final airport is Sydney's international Kingsford Smith Airport

  • which is located only 10km away from the city centre, where the conference will take place. There are train stations located at both the International and Domestic Terminals.

For more information about connections from and to the airport, including fares, maps and travel planners, visit the Airport Link website

  • For information about the Sydney train network and service, visit the CityRail website

  • The Taxi fare from and to the airport is around 50$.

For further traveling information, see e.g.

    Information for International Participants

All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia (other than New Zealand passport holders who will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival). There are a number of visa options available, see: http://www.immi.gov.au/visawizard/. Most international participants will need a business visitor visa, either a eVisitor (e.g. passport holders from the European Union) or a short stay business visa, see this information. We recommend that international participants applying for a paper-based visa lodge their application at least 6-8 weeks before their intended travel date to Australia.

You should refer to the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship's pages on the International Event Coordinator Network (IECN) Service

Please note that with the implementation of the new Biometrics Program participants from several countries may need to provide biometric data with their visa application, see:
    http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/biometrics/offshore/countries.htm

All visa applicants are also required to meet certain character and health requirements as part of their visa application process, see:
    http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/health-requirements/ and
    http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/character-requirements/

In case you need a registration confirmation, please contact the organizers (pvisorg@it.usyd.edu.au).
