Install Mac OS X

New machine with preinstalled system

1. plug everything in and boot
2. move through the steps in MacOsXinitialSetup
3. apply the proper settings as listed in MacOsXcustomize
4. wait for the installer to finish, then restart
5. login and quit the registration application by holding the command-key (left & right of the space bar) while hitting "Q"
6. clean up the Dock as described in MacOsXcleanDock
7. configure the System Preferences according to MacOsXsetPreferences
8. MacOsXsystemTuning (this is not optional but works around some "issues" - if you experience network connection errors or mail problems after an update, go through these again)
9. MacOsXupdateSoftware
10. MacOsXshutdownUnneededNetworks
11. MacOsXinstallAdditionalSoftware
