1. under "Personal" in the System Preferences Panel, click "Dock"
   1. set the "Position on screen" to the user's choice - default is "Bottom"
   2. check "Automatically hide and show the Dock"
      • the Dock will disappear - it can be retrieved by trying to move the mouse cursor past the bottom of the screen
2. click "Show All" if you want to configure other settings, otherwise close the panel
